Overview

The University of Hawaii at Hilo, also known as UH Hilo, was originally established in 1941 as the Hawaii Vocational College. In 1970, the college received university status and was christened University of Hawaii at Hilo. UH Hilo is a branch of the University of Hawaii system and offers enrollment to more than 3,000 students per year. The university grants bachelor degrees in arts, education, business administration, and nursing. It also grants master degrees in arts, education, and science, as well as doctorate degrees. It has under it the following divisions:

  • College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resource Management
  • College of Arts and Sciences
  • College of Business and Economics
  • College of Continuing Education and Community Service
  • College of Hawaiian Language
  • College of Pharmacy

UH Hilo supports more than 40 registered clubs and organizations. Among them are Delta Sigma Pi, Agriculture Club, Hawaiian Kinoball Organization, History Club, and Student Art Association.
