Overview

The University of Houston is a public, coeducational, research university located in Houston, Texas. It was originally founded on March 7, 1927 as the Houston Junior College. It became a four-year institution in October of 1933.

UH’s campus covers an area of 560 acres. It offers more than 100 bachelors, 130 masters, and 50 doctoral programs. The academic divisions of the university are:

Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Conference USA for major sports.
