The University of Iowa is a public, co-educational research university. The university was established on February 25, 1847 in Iowa City on the bank of the Iowa River. The university stretches across an area of 1,700 acres.

Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Big Ten Conference for major sports.
