Overview

University of Louisiana at Monroe, also referred to as ULM, is a coeducational, public university located in Monroe, Louisiana, United States. It was established in September 1931 as Ouachita Parish Junior College. In 1939, the name was changed to Northeast Junior College of Louisiana State University. In 1950, the College was granted the right of expansion to a full college. The name was then changed to Northeast Louisiana State College. In the 1969-70 academic year, the College was raised to University status and was granted the right to offer doctoral degrees. The name was changed to Northeast Louisiana University. Finally, on August 27, 1999, the University underwent a final name change and was called the University of Louisiana at MOnroe.

University of Louisiana at Monroe is organized into the following schools, colleges, and departments:

The University's campus is home to a number of fraternities and sororities including Delta Sigma Phi, Kappa Sigma, Omega Psi Phi, and Sigma Gamma Rho.

The University's sports teams are called the ULM Warhawks. The official mascot of the University is Ace the Warhawk. ULM sponsors football, swimming and diving, baseball, basketball, and cheerleading.
