Overview

The University of Maine at Farmington, also referred to as UMF or UMaine Farmington, was founded in 1864. It was Maine’s first public institution of higher education. It began offering degree programs in liberal arts in 1971. Today, if continues to offer degree programs in liberal arts in addition to bachelor degrees in Arts, Fine Arts, General Studies, and Science.

The University of Maine at Farmington has the distinction of being ranked by U.S. News & World Report along with the top schools in liberal arts and comprehensive college categories for over 11 consecutive years. The university's athletic team competes in the NCAA Division III of the North Atlantic Conference and is known as the UMaine Farmington Beavers.
