Overview
Established in 1908, the University of Mary Washington, formerly known as Mary Washington College, is situated in Fredericksburg, Virginia. It was founded as a women’s college, and was originally nicknamed State Normal and Industrial School for Women. The campus sits upon nearly 170 acres.
The graduate campus of the college has more than 700 degree-seeking students. There are roughly 4,000 undergraduate students enrolled at present representing more than 40 states. The university grants Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Liberal Studies, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Science in Elementary Education to the students.
The University of Mary Washington is home to over 100 recognized student clubs and organizations. The sports teams of the college are nicknamed the Eagles.
