Overview
The University of Maryland University College, also referred to as UMUC, is located in the community of Adelphi in Prince George's County, Maryland. The university was initially established in 1947 as the College of Special and Continuation Studies. In 1959, the college was given its current name and in 1988 it finally became a part of the University System of Maryland.
