University of Miami, also referred to as Miami of Florida or UM or The U, is a private, nonsectarian university located in Coral Gables, Florida, United States. It was founded in 1925.

The Universit's sports teams are called the Miami Hurricanes. The official mascot is Sebastian the Ibis. The University sponsors basketball, cross-country, diving, golf, rowing, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

Notable alumni of UM include Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, actor and former WWE wrestler; Enrique Iglesias, singer, songwrite, and Grammy Award winner; both artists of the musician duo "No Mercy"; and Rick Barry, former power forward for the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets. He is also a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Housing and Meals

University Of Miami provides on-campus housing for 4,835 of its 14,700 (full-time) students (as of 2007). The school requires freshmen to live on campus.

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 20 meals weekly.

University Of Miami Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. University Of Miami is in the Atlantic Coast Conference for major sports.
