Overview

The University of Minnesota Morris, also known as UMM, is part of the University of Minnesota system. It was officially founded in 1960. However, its origin stretches back to the 1880s. UMM offers over 30 majors in a variety of disciplines. The programs are available through the following four divisions:

UMM is known to be committed to alternate sources of energy. It has a wind turbine on campus which, in addition to providing more than 50% of the campus’ electricity, is used for research purposes. UMM’s athletic teams are nicknamed the Cougars, and they participate in basketball and football, among others sports. In 2005, U.S. News and World Report ranked the University of Minnesota Morris in fourth position among 20 public liberal arts colleges in "America's Best Colleges."
