University Of Nevada-Las Vegas

The University of Nevada Las Vegas, also known as UNLV, is a public, co-educational university located in Paradise, Nevada. The university campus is located on Maryland Parkway, in southeastern Las Vegas. Established in 1957, the university is now organized into three campuses, the main, the north and the Shadow Lane campus. In 2006, UNLV opened its first international campus in Singapore. The University of Nevada Las Vegas is well known for its programs in history, engineering, environmental studies, hotel administration, fine arts and management information systems.

The varsity sports teams of the University of Nevada Las Vegas are nicknamed the Rebels. The university sponsors basketball, baseball, and other sports teams.

Housing and Meals

UNLV provides on-campus housing for 2,000 of its 21,938 (full-time) students (as of 2007). The school requires freshmen to live on campus.

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 19 meals weekly.

UNLV Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. UNLV is in the Mountain West Conference for major sports.

UNLV offers financial aid for athletes. Of students receiving athletic financial aid, 202 male students received the aid (men were 60% of those receiving aid) and 132 women were awarded financial aid based on athletics (representing 40% of students receiving such aid) .
