The Gallup campus of the University of New Mexico, also called UNM Gallop, was founded in 1968. It began with 128 students at the local Gallup High School. The Gallup campus, which is located near the Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni Reservations, has the largest Native American student organization found in any public university across the world. It occupies 64 acres in New Mexico's beautiful High Desert Country. It is also the largest out of four University of Mexico branch campuses.
