Overview

The University of Northern Colorado, also known as UNC or Northern Colorado, is a coeducational, public institution of higher education and research. It is located in Greeley, Colorado, United States. It was established in 1889 as the State Normal School of Colorado. It gained the status of university in 1970.

UNC offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate programs in the fields of humanities, arts, sciences, business, human sciences, and education. The university is organized into the following academic divisions:

Northern Colorado provides on-campus housing for 3,139 of its 11,224 (full-time) students (as of 2009-2010).

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 19 meals weekly.

Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Big Sky Conference for major sports.

The school offers financial aid for athletes. Of students receiving athletic financial aid, 97 male students received the aid (men were 57% of those receiving aid) and 73 women were awarded financial aid based on athletics (representing 43% of students receiving such aid) .
