Overview
Founded in 1890, the University of Oklahoma, or UO, is a coeducational public research university located in Norman, Oklahoma.
The Norman campus enrolls more than 19,000 undergraduate students and over 6,000 graduate students every semester.
The university is home to a number of colleges, which include:

Set to open in 2010, the OU Cancer Institute is on track to become the state's first and only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center.
The university is home to the Neustadt International Prize for Literature, often referred to as the "American Nobel." Twenty-seven Neustadt laureates, candidates and jurors have won the Nobel Prize in the past 39 years.
OU's athletic teams play in Division I-A and received the CHAMPS award for preparing student athletes for life.
Alumni who have excelled at the collegiate and professional levels in sports include Lee Roy Selmon; Roy Williams; Tommie Harris; Billy Sims; Wayman Tisdale; Joe Washington, Matthew Lane; Anthony Kim, Jake Hager, Danny Hodge, and Jonathan Horton. Price; 2006 Miss America Jennifer Berry; Stacey Dales, former WNBA player and ESPN commentator; Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen; and actors Van Heflin, Dennis Weaver, and James Garner.
