Overview
The University of Portland, also referred to as UP, is a Roman Catholic, private university situated in Portland, Oregon, United States. It was founded in the year 1901. UP was initially founded as Columbia University on the site of the defunct Portland University. Columbia University was granted the status of junior college in 1922 and was named the University of Portland sometime during the 1930s. UP records an enrollment of more than 3,000 students annually. The campus spreads across an area of more than 120 acres. The university has under it the following schools and colleges:

UP’s campus is home to a number of registered clubs and organizations including the American Chemical Society, Social Work Club, Music Club, and Feminist Discussion Group. There are also several fraternities and sororities such as Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, Phi Beta Lambda, Alpha Kappa Psi, Beta Beta Beta, Kappa Delta Pi, and Tau Beta Pi.
