Overview
The University of San Francisco, or USF, was established in 1855 as Saint Ignatius Academy. It was founded by the Italian Jesuits Rev. Joseph Bixio, Rev. Michael Accolti and Rev. Anthony Maraschi. It became Saint Ignatius College in 1859 and the campus was moved to its present location in 1927. The college gained university status in 1930 and became the University of San Francisco. The campus covers over 50 acres in San Francisco, California. The academic units of USF are organized into the following schools and colleges:

USF offers several online study programs through its School of Business and Professional Studies.
