Overview
The University of St. Thomas, also known as St. Thomas or UST, was established in 1885 as St. Thomas Aquinas seminary, an all-male, Catholic seminary. It was named after a medieval, Catholic, theologian and philosopher named St. Thomas Aquinas. In 1894, it became the College of St. Thomas. In 1915, it and merged with the St. Thomas Military Academy; however, it dropped the military distinction in 1922 and became coeducational in 1977. The College of St. Thomas gained university status in 1991 and settled on its present name. The university is spread over 85 acres in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and has campuses in Owatonna, Minnesota, and in Rome, Italy.
UST is divided into the following academic units:

Some of the Greek letter organizations of UST include Psi Chi, Omicron Delta Kappa, Beta Beta Beta, Gamma Sigma Sigma, Sigma Chi, and Sigma Tau Delta. There are also other student organizations such as the Advertising Federation of America, Amnesty International, Art Attack, Club de Espanol, Computer Science Club, Eastern European Club, Financial Management Association, Knights of Columbus, and Music and Entertainment Industry Club.
