Overview

The University of Toledo, or UT, was founded in 1872 as a private arts and trades school. In 1967, it became part of the state university system. UT merged with the Medical University of Ohio in July 2006. The main campus of UT includes nine modern residence halls, a student recreation center, a classroom center, and a gothic bell tower. Presently, the university offers more than 250 degree and certificate programs. The academic units of UT are divided into the following colleges:

UT has approximately 30 Greek organizations which are governed by the Interfraternity Council, National Panhellenic Conference, and National Pan-Hellenic Council. In addition, the university has recognized approximately four organizations that are governed by the Greek Independent Board.

The athletic teams of UT are popularly referred as the Rockets and play in the Mid-American Conference. The football team of UT has won nine Mid-American Conference Championships.
