The University of Virginia's main campus is also referred to as U.Va, UVA, Mr. Jefferson's University, or The University. It is a public, coeducational, research Uuniversity founded in 1819 under the able leadership of Thomas Jefferson, third President of the United States. It is the only university in the United States declared to be a "World Heritage Site" by UNESCO.

Housing and MealsUniversity Of Virginia provides on-campus housing for 7,113 of its 22,428 (full-time) students (as of 2008-2009). The school requires freshmen to live on campus. Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 21 meals weekly.
