Overview
The University of Wisconsin– River Falls provides undergraduate and graduate education in liberal arts. The university was founded in 1874 as “River Falls Normal School” to prepare students for careers in teaching. In 1927, its name was changed to River Falls State Teachers College. It went through a couple more name changes before it adopted its current name in 1971.
The University occupies an area of 226 acres and 32 buildings. Furthermore, there are 2 laboratory farms which extend the area of the university to about 440 acres. The university has both men and women sports teams, known as the Falcons. They participate in about 18 varsity sports.
