Overview

The University of Wisconsin-Stout, also known as UW-Stout, is a member campus of the University of Wisconsin System. It was established in 1891 as a training school. After a few name and status changes, it received its present name in 1971. UW-Stout is named in honor of its founder, James Huff Stout. It enrolls more than 8,000 students. UW-Stout offers more than 30 undergraduate majors, over 15 graduate majors, and two advanced graduate majors. It is organized into the following academic divisions:

  • College of Management
  • College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

  • School of Education

UW-Stout students take part in over 120 student organizations on campus. The university has an active Greek life with several fraternities and sororities.
