Utah State University

Utah State University, also referred to as USU, is a coeducational, public, land-grant university located in Logan, Utah, United States. It was established in 1888 as the Agricultural College of Utah and renamed to Utah State Agricultural College shortly thereafter. Finally, in 1957, it was raised to university status and given its present moniker.

The University's sports teams are called the Utah State Aggies. The official mascot is Big Blue. The University sponsors basketball, volleyball, softball, track and field, golf, tennis, cross country, and gymnastics.

Notable alumni of Utah State University include Kenny Guinn, Governor of Nevada; Rick Bas, writer and environmental activis; Charlie Denson, President of Nike Brand; and Mary L. Cleave, NASA Astronaut.

Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Western Athletic Conference for major sports.

The school offers financial aid for athletes. Of students receiving athletic financial aid, 107 male students received the aid (men were 49% of those receiving aid) and 111 women were awarded financial aid based on athletics (representing 51% of students receiving such aid) .
