Overview

Utah Valley University, or UVU, was established in 1941 as the Central Utah Vocational School. It became Utah Trade Technical Institute in 1963 and Utah Valley State College in 1993. On July 1, 2008, UVU gained university status and adopted its current name. UVU is divided into a number of academic units, such as:

  • Woodbury School of Business

Some of the most famous alumni of UVU are Ricky Allman, internationally renowned painter; Noelle Pikus Pace, World Cup Gold Medalist in Skeleton; and Matthew S. Petersen, Chief Counsel to the United States Senate Rules Committee who was nominated by President Bush to the Federal Election Commission in May 2008.
