Overview

VanderCook College of Music, located in Chicago, Illinois, was established in 1909 by Hale A. VanderCook. Originally known as VanderCook Cornet School, the college was given its present name in 1928. Commonly referred to as VCM, the college offers quality education in the field of music and performing arts. Prospective students can choose from courses offered in areas such as band, choir, general music, orchestra and music technology. Students can also take advantage of online course and interdisciplinary programs.

VCM has an active Greek life with the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Sigma Alpha Iota organizations. Students can also join the American Choral Directors Association, the American String Teachers Association and the National Band Association. Deserving students are eligible for institutional financial aid such as the VCM H. E. Nutt Academic Excellence Grant and the VCM Dean’s List Grant.
