Overview
Ventura College, or VC, was established 1925 as a California-state funded community college. The campus of VC covers more than 110 acres in Ventura, California, and is administrated by the Ventura County Community College District. Some of the academic departments of VC are business information systems, environmental science and resource management, paramedic/emergency medical technology, and fashion design and merchandising.
There are a variety of active student organizations at VC including the African American Student Union, American Institute of Architectural Students, Campus Crusade for Christ, Extended Opportunities Programs and Services Student Association, Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers, Psychology Club, and many more.
The athletic teams of VC are known as the Pirates and are members of the Western State Conference. The men’s sports include water polo, basketball, track and field, baseball, tennis, golf, swimming and diving, football, and cross country. The women’s sports include softball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, track and field, cross country, water polo, tennis, and swimming and diving.
