Overview

Vernon College was originally established as Vernon Regional Junior College, or VRJC, in the Wilbarger County Junior College District, which was created in January, 1970. Campus construction started in May, 1971, and classes began in September 1972 with 608 students. In 1975, VRJC expanded its service area by opening an off-campus learning center at Sheppard Air Force Base. The college adopted its present name, Vernon College, in May, 2001.

Vernon College offers certificates and associate degrees in Arts, Science and Applied Science. An associate degree in teaching is also available. At present the college manages three off-campus learning centers in addition to its main campus. These learning centers are the Century City Center, Skills Training Center, and the Sheppard Learning Center.
