Overview

Villanova University, or VU, is a private university located in Radnor Township, a suburb northwest of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It was established in 1842 by the Augustinian monastic order. The university can trace its roots to old Saint Augustine's Church in Philadelphia, which the Augustinians founded in 1796. The campus is spread across an area of more than 250 acres.

For more than a decade, VU has been ranked #1 by U.S. News and World Report in the Best Universities-Masters category in the northern region. It offers a wide variety of bachelor, master, doctoral, and professional programs through the following academic divisions:

VU has an active Greek life. It is home to more than 10 fraternities and over 8 sororities. The first Greek organization at the school was established in 1902. More than 10% of Villanova students belong to the Greek organizations.
