Washington Theological Union, or WTU, is a Roman Catholic, private graduate institute of theology and ministry. Established in 1968, it is situated in Washington, DC. Immediately after its incorporation, WTC became a leading Roman Catholic institute of theology within the country. In 1996, WTU moved to a new building in the Takoma Park region of Washington, DC. The institute offers several graduate degrees including the Master of Theological Studies, Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies, and Master of Divinity. It also provides various other certificate programs.
Washington Theological Union has an active student life. The students have the opportunity to socialize among themselves and participate in various events and activities. Many students of WTU have gone on to become famous and include Greg Jakubowicz, chief operating officer for Washington; Paul Henson, principal of Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino; and Greg Brown, parochial vicar at St. Cecilia Parish in Rochester.
