Overview

Wells College is a co-educational, private, liberal arts institute, in Aurora, New York that was established by Henry Wells in 1868. It started as a woman's college, and became a co-educational college in 2005. The campus is spread across 300 acres. Areas of study available include cognitive and brain science, sociology and anthropology, Spanish and Latin American studies, social and economic justice, and philosophy and religion.

Student Life Division’s staff at Wells College help students design programs, policies and opportunities to support them in developing civility, life skills, competence, perspective, compassion, and responsibility.

The college mascot is known as the Express. Wells College presently offers 6 varsity women’s sports teams: soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, swimming, tennis, and softball. Helen Barolini, Italian-American author of novels and essays; and Edith Kinney Gaylord, journalist and philanthropist are some of the notable alumni of the college.
