Overview

West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, WVSOM, is a public school in Lewisburg, West Virginia. It was originally known as Greenbrier College of Osteopathic Medicine, which opened in 1974. The name was changed to the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in January 1976. WVSOM offers the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree. The campus covers more than 50 acres.

West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine has numerous organizations including the Student Osteopathic Surgery Association, the Student Chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians, the Student Association of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians (SAACOP), and the Christian Medical Association. WVSOM has a diverse student body with representatives from more than 45 states.

WVSOM participates in federally funded financial assistance programs such as the Graduate/Professional PLUS Loans, the Federal Perkins Loans, Federal Stafford Loans, and Federal Work Study.
