Western Governors University

Western Governors University or WGU was established in 1997, and is an online school with no campus locations. It was founded by nineteen governors led by Roy Romer. The administrative offices of the school are situated in Salt Lake City, Utah. It has a present enrollment of more than 10,000 students.

WGU is the only college to get regional accreditation from 4 regional accreditation commissions: the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Western Governors University confers degrees in business, education, healthcare professions and information technology. WGU's first student graduated in November, 2000. Presently, more than 400 students graduate from this university every year.
