Overview

Westminster College began as a prep school called Salt Lake Collegiate Institute in 1875. In 1897, it began offering college level classes and was renamed Sheldon Jackson College. It was named Westminster College in 1902 so that it could project a general Protestant education more effectively. In 1974, the college severed its connection with the Presbyterian Church.

At present Westminster College comprises of the following four schools –

  • Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business
  • School of Arts and Sciences
  • School of Education
  • School of Nursing and Health Sciences

Westminster College occupies an area of 27 acres where it successfully blends liberal arts education with professional programs. It offers over 30 undergraduate majors and more than 10 graduate degrees. It also offers over 20 post-baccalaureate certificate programs.
