Wilkes University was established in 1933, and is situated in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It was founded as a branch campus of the Bucknell University, and became independent in 1940.
The campus is covers nearly 27 acres, and includes numerous residential halls and buildings. The academic programs of the schools are divided among the following colleges:

- Jay S. Sidhu School of Business and Leadership
Wilkes University has an active student life and boasts numerous on-campus clubs and organizations and has more than 15 national honor societies. The college enrolls undergraduate students from more than 15 states and 4 foreign countries. Their sports teams are nicknamed the Colonels.
