Overview

Willamette University is located in Salem, Oregon, United States. It was founded in 1842 as the Oregon Institute. It was founded by the missionary Jason Lee. In fact, it is the oldest university of Western United States. It became Wallamet University in 1852 and the spelling of the university was changed in 1870. The university records an enrollment of about 2,500 students every year and offers various bachelor and master degrees. The university campus spreads across an area of more than 65 acres in Salem. Willamette is divided into the following academic schools and colleges:

  • College of Liberal Arts
  • School of Education

There are several student clubs and organizations at Willamette University. Some of these include the African Studies Club, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Anthropology Club, History Club, Beta Theta Pi, Shakespeare Club, Delta Gamma, Phi Beta Kappa, Native American Enlightenment Association, Voce Fimina, and Latter Day Saints Student Association.
