Overview
William Carey University is located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Unied States. It was founded as Mississippi Woman's College in 1906. It was named in honor of William Carey, an Englishman who is held by some to be the initiator of the modern protestant evangelical missions. In 1954, it became coeducational and was renamed William Carey College. The university's primary campus is situated in Hattiesburg but it also operates subsidiary campuses in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Gulfport, Mississippi. In 2006, which was also the college’s Centennial year, it became a university and was named William Carey University.
At present, William Carey University offers bachelor degrees in the areas of humanities, arts and sciences, psychology and education, business, music, nursing and religion. It also offers M.Ed., M.B.A and M.S. in psychology along with M.S.N. degrees. Students can also study for a specialist degree in elementary education.
