Overview

The Winston-Salem State University is a 4-year, public, co-educational research university. It is situated in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. WSSU was established in 1892 by Dr. Simon Green Atkins. WSSU's campus stretches over an area of more than 110 acres. Every year, Winston-Salem State University enrolls more than 5,000 students.

Winston-Salem State University is comprised of the following schools and colleges:

WSSU's sports teams are nicknamed the Rams. Men’s teams take part in basketball, football, cross country, golf, track & field and tennis. Women at WSSU take part in basketball, cross country, track & field, tennis, softball, bowling and volleyball. WSSU also has a cheerleading squad.
