Overview

York College, Pennsylvania is a private, co-educational college located in York, Pennsylvania. The college was founded in 1787 as the York County Academy. In 1929, it merged with York Collegiate Institute to allow both institutions to grow further. In 1941, the college was changed to a two-year, liberal arts college by amending its charter. In 1968, YC began granting four-year bachelors degrees and was renamed York College of Pennsylvania.

YCP's sports teams are called the Spartans. The official mascot of York College is a Spartan warrior. Men's teams from YC participate in basketball, baseball, lacrosse, soccer, tennis and swimming. Women's teams are fielded in field hockey, basketball, soccer, softball, swimming and tennis.
