| Would Recommend? | yes | I feel like getting my accounting degree at the University of Alaska, Southeast is what led to my success as a legislative auditor. I made many contacts at the school that have helped me in my accounting career. |
| Program Reputation | 10 | Our school's reputation is very good. The fiscal directors of the different State of Alaska departments like to hire accounting graduates of the University of Alaska, Southeast because of the high quality of learning at the university. |
| Program Quality | 10 | I feel like the University of Alaska, Southeast is an excellent school. Their accounting program is superb. |
| Instruction | 10 | The professors at the University of Alaska, Southeast are highly qualified accountants and auditors, so they are able to speak from experience in their classes. Because they have worked in the field, they can share their insights and provide guidance to their accounting students. |
| How Difficult | 7 | I think the program of study at the University of Alaska, Southeast is rigorous, yet not so difficult that the degree can't be achieved. You are expected to fully learn the information provided in the courses and are not just passed along with an "easy A." |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | I would say that the accounting program leans towards book learning. If an accounting student wants hands-on accounting experience, there are businesses in Juneau who will hire the student as an intern. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 10 | The University of Alaska, Southeast uses distance education for many of its accounting classes. The distance education classes are very flexible in the days/hours of instruction. |
| Academic Facilities | 9 | I think the University of Alaska, Southeast's academic facilities and resources for the accounting program are very good. They have an excellent library, high-quality media and computer resources, spacious classrooms, academic advisors who care about the students, and the professors are extremely accessible to students. |
| Social Life | 8 | I had a lot of fun while attending school at the University of Alaska, Southeast. There are fun curricular activities and the beautiful Alaska surroundings make for a lot of good hiking and boating. |
| Placement Services | 5 | I haven't had any experience with the University of Alaska, Southeast's job placement or career services assistance. I would assume that they do an excellent job helping students to find work after college. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | I have to say that I haven't had much experience with our alumni network. I usually receive a mailing or two a year from them, but that's all. |

"I achieved what I set out for. I feel like it could have been more challenging and more real life based."

| Would Recommend? | yes | The program provides a very general basis for accounting, which is okay because most companies want to train employees to do things their way and use their systems/programs. The accounting program is easy to get into and there are a lot of accounting opportunities in this area. The school provides a flexible schedule and professors are very available to help. |
| Program Reputation | 8 | Supposedly they have nearly 100% student placement in the accounting field. I did not go through them for employment. They have a lot of job fairs that include accounting firms. |
| Program Quality | 7 | I feel like they did not provide enough real life examples. I'm really not good at using Excel even though I took classes on it. |
| Instruction | 5 | I took a lot of distance education courses so it's difficult to rate the instruction. The few teachers that I did see in person were decent. Mostly young girls who worked as accountants. |
| How Difficult | 4 | None of the courses that I took were terribly challenging, just time consuming. Maybe the bachelors degree provides more challenge than the associates. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | It's accounting, you read and use your computer/ten key. Even when you are using a computer, it's usually while you are reading and attempting to learn something about a computer program. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 8 | UAF offers a lot of distance education courses as well as evening and weekend courses. This is especially true for associate degrees. |
| Academic Facilities | 7 | Professors are very responsive to emails. There are several computer labs around campus and there are actually 2 campuses in Fairbanks, which is convenient. |
| Social Life | 3 | I think you need to live in the dorms to have a social experience at UAF. It is very cold here. I went to UAF to go to class. There was no reason for me to hang out unless I was just trying to make friends. |
| Placement Services | 3 | I had a bad experience with the lady I met with. She basically told me you can't do anything with an associate degree and I left to go cry. She was filling in for someone. |
| Alumni Network | 8 | We automatically become "members" for 1 year after graduation at which time there are dues to pay. I always receive their update flyers and letters asking for money. They keep in touch. |

"I would recommend this school to anyone who is interested in an accounting degree. I'm biased... I'm also an adjunct instructor for them in accounting classes."

| Would Recommend? | yes | The University of Alaska has high-quality instructors and a beautiful campus in Juneau, Alaska. Your advisor will assist you in finding an accounting job after graduation. |
| Program Reputation | 10 | My school has an excellent reputation in Alaska for its accounting program. The Alaska state government hires many of the University's accounting graduates right out of school. |
| Program Quality | 10 | The University of Alaska has an excellent accounting program. The instructors are very experienced and have real-world accounting work experience, in addition to their teaching experience. |
| Instruction | 10 | I got my first intern job at a CPA firm due to contacts made in the University. I got my first accounting job after graduation because my advisor told me that the State government liked the University's accounting graduates and hired them after graduation. They hired me! |
| How Difficult | 8 | The work load can be heavy. The academic challenge can be high. There is a lot of number-crunching, of course, in the accounting homework, so be prepared to spend a lot of time on homework. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | There was a little of both at the University. It depended on the course and instructor how much hands-on you got. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 10 | There are face-to-face classes and distance education classes. The distance ed classes are particularly flexible. |
| Academic Facilities | 10 | The University rates highly in this area. I would highly recommend that someone interested in the accounting field go to the University of Alaska. |
| Social Life | 5 | I was a "non-traditional" student, as I was older than most students when I attended college. I really didn't get into the social events at the college. |
| Placement Services | 10 | My advisor told me that the State likes our school's accounting graduates. He recommend that I apply for a position with the State legislative audit department. I was hired by them right after graduation. |
| Alumni Network | I don't know how my school's alumni network is because I don't participate in any of the alumni activities. |
