"I am very pleased with everything that my university has to offer. It held up to my expectations of what an on-line college should be like."

Would Recommend?yesI loved the program and the university. The on-line setting is amazing and it has also taught me how to work my computer in several different ways. I feel confident going out into the technical world and work.
Program Reputation10I am a Phoenix! I have done my research, watched the commercials, and I have been part of the success of the UoP. There has been a lot of success among the alumni that have attended the UoP.
Program Quality10Accounting and business has always interested me. I feel like I know more about how society works because of the knowledge that I have gained.
Instruction8I had issues with a few of the facilitators that lacked good feedback. I also had a few facilitators that were not thorough with their grading and had to be asked if they review the scores.
How Difficult5I feel that it was a great match for me. I was able to keep up with the courses without getting bored, and there were a few that were challenging for me as well. I liked the requirements because I feel that they kept me involved with the classes.
Hands-On vs. BookishSince all of my course work was done on-line I did not have any real hands one type experiences. I think that the most hands on experience that I got was learning some different accounting software, like Peachtree and Quickbooks.
Schedule Flexibility10I completed my degree on-line so I had all the flexibility that I was looking for. I was able to get on-line whenever I wanted to as long as I met all of my requirements. The requirements were in place to keep me involved, but were not too much that I could not run my business and raise my family.
Academic Facilities10I had access to many resources through my on-line classroom that gave me the ability to complete my classes. This included tutors. I also had access to the local campus and all the resources that they had to offer, so I feel like I had twice the resources.
Social Life5Even though I did my course work on-line I was able to attend all of the social events that they had. If they host an event, I am invited to attend. They also help in the community.
Placement Services1Other than the alumni network there is not really placement programs. I think that this is an area that the UoP could work on.
Alumni Network10I love the UoP alumni network. I recently received my AA and have found that being part of the alumni is amazing. There is a lot to offer in the world that my alumni network has introduced me to.

Would Recommend?yesI have recommended Brigham Young University Idaho to my friends and many have gone there.
Program Reputation7I think the school's reputation is good. I haven't heard anything otherwise. I do know that other programs in the school are overly easy and therefore inflate the overall school's grades. That has been a little bit disappointing to me.
Program Quality9The program was good in teaching a variety of accounting skills. The required classes were well-rounded for the Accounting field. I felt they did a good job preparing me for the work environment.
Instruction8Some of the curriculum could have been better. The school did provide excellent teachers as well as competent tutors for each subject taught.
How Difficult8The program took a lot of time and studying. The tests were long and strenuous. It was doable and I think most of the students that made it into the program were able to complete it. I felt it was hard but possible to possible to do.
Hands-On vs. BookishBYU-Idaho in general has moved to a very hands-on style for the entire school. The accounting program itself is a little hard to make into hands-on, but I think they did an excellent job of setting up just the right amount of real-world problems and projects.
Schedule Flexibility10The class schedule was very flexible. They offered quite a few online classes and most of the classes were offered every semester.
Academic Facilities10The school has tutors for every class. We had our own accounting lab that was open most of the time as well as great library availability. Professors were available all the time and most were responsive to emails quickly. Great classrooms and computer resources. Excellent!
Social Life8The school offers tons of social events, though I did not attend many of them due to lots of homework. I think they offer just the right amount of these types of events.
Placement Services5They have offered a few resources. After the first few months, they haven't done anything.
Alumni Network7I know that some areas have a great alumni network and support. I now that Denver has a decent one, but I have not been able to take advantage of it as much as I would like to.

"I loved my time at ISU. The faculty and staff made it a great experience."

Would Recommend?yesAgain, Grant Accounting isn't something you study in school and most people wind up in the field without having heard of it before. I got a good background in accounting and critical thinking which prepared me for a number of careers.
Program Reputation9The Accounting department works hard to grow and improve. They've always had an excellent CPA review program and recently added a Master's program to enhance opportunities.
Program Quality9ISU offers a great accounting program. No one offers grant accounting but I was well prepared with a solid background that made it easy to adapt.
Instruction9They offer a solid core program and a wide variety of electives. The instructors really cared about their students and made sure we were able to be successful.
How Difficult7The program wasn't a cake walk, but difficulty is a matter of personal ability so it's hard to answer this. I struggled with Audit but found Tax incredibly simple, but neither class was more challenging than the other - the difference was me and my ability.
Hands-On vs. BookishEven in classes that were primarily book based, instructors looked for opportunities for hands-on learning. Software programs, case studies, and real world partnership exercises were all offered when possible.
Schedule Flexibility9Core classes were offered frequently enough to allow for flexibility. We had a range from college students only to college students with full time jobs and everything in between. Electives came around every few semesters so you didn't have to wait too long.
Academic Facilities9All COB classes were in one building, with two computer labs and 4 or 5 study rooms. The faculty, academic, and advisor offices were also in the same building.
Social Life5The school offered a lot for those who were able to participate. We had a large number of student parents so many of us didn't have much time to take advantage.
Placement Services5I didn't really utilize the job placement service since I moved across the country. When I went back to school, I knew what I wanted to study so I also did not need career services.
Alumni Network5They send newsletters and invite alumni to send in updates. I live too far away for the network to provide much support.

"I felt it prepared me for the CPA exam so I could take it quickly. The professors in the business department were wonderful to work with."

Would Recommend?yesIf they continue to offer the CPA exam preparation course, it is a wonderful school to go to. The professors are very personable which is vastly different from a larger university.
Program Reputation10Idaho State is known by many schools to provide the best CPA exam preparation. A class is offered every summer for this specific purpose.
Program Quality10The professors were very personable. I could go to any one of them with a question.
Instruction10It prepared me for my career. The professors taught us in such a way that we would be prepared for life after school as well as preparing us for taking the CPA exam.
How Difficult10The classes were very intense, as is the norm for accounting classes. They took a lot of hours to study for, but putting in the work helped me do well.
Hands-On vs. BookishIn my experience, most of the learning was through book learning. There was an occasional event where we could learn more about the accounting industry if we chose to attend.
Schedule Flexibility8There weren't a lot of summer offerings in the accounting department, but I was able to take general courses during the summer. A lot of courses were offered only at one time, such as in the evening, making it difficult because of the need to find a babysitter every week.
Academic Facilities8There were no computer labs in the business department at the time I was there. They also kept promising wireless printers in one classroom which never happened while I was there.
Social Life5ISU tends to have non-traditional students. There is not a lot of school spirit. Most are there to focus on the degree.
Placement Services6The main career services were geared toward public accounting with the big firms. There weren't any options given for those seeking a smaller firm or industry accounting.
Alumni Network1I haven't heard anything from anyone since I left ISU. However, I have stayed in touch with the friends I made in the business department
