Studying Accounting (completion in 2013)

"I am very pleased with everything that my university has to offer. It held up to my expectations of what an on-line college should be like."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |

| Would Recommend? | yes | I loved the program and the university. The on-line setting is amazing and it has also taught me how to work my computer in several different ways. I feel confident going out into the technical world and work. |
| Program Reputation | 10 | I am a Phoenix! I have done my research, watched the commercials, and I have been part of the success of the UoP. There has been a lot of success among the alumni that have attended the UoP. |
| Program Quality | 10 | Accounting and business has always interested me. I feel like I know more about how society works because of the knowledge that I have gained. |
| Instruction | 8 | I had issues with a few of the facilitators that lacked good feedback. I also had a few facilitators that were not thorough with their grading and had to be asked if they review the scores. |
| How Difficult | 5 | I feel that it was a great match for me. I was able to keep up with the courses without getting bored, and there were a few that were challenging for me as well. I liked the requirements because I feel that they kept me involved with the classes. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Since all of my course work was done on-line I did not have any real hands one type experiences. I think that the most hands on experience that I got was learning some different accounting software, like Peachtree and Quickbooks. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 10 | I completed my degree on-line so I had all the flexibility that I was looking for. I was able to get on-line whenever I wanted to as long as I met all of my requirements. The requirements were in place to keep me involved, but were not too much that I could not run my business and raise my family. |
| Academic Facilities | 10 | I had access to many resources through my on-line classroom that gave me the ability to complete my classes. This included tutors. I also had access to the local campus and all the resources that they had to offer, so I feel like I had twice the resources. |
| Social Life | 5 | Even though I did my course work on-line I was able to attend all of the social events that they had. If they host an event, I am invited to attend. They also help in the community. |
| Placement Services | 1 | Other than the alumni network there is not really placement programs. I think that this is an area that the UoP could work on. |
| Alumni Network | 10 | I love the UoP alumni network. I recently received my AA and have found that being part of the alumni is amazing. There is a lot to offer in the world that my alumni network has introduced me to. |

"I loved my time at ISU. The faculty and staff made it a great experience."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

| Would Recommend? | yes | Again, Grant Accounting isn't something you study in school and most people wind up in the field without having heard of it before. I got a good background in accounting and critical thinking which prepared me for a number of careers. |
| Program Reputation | 9 | The Accounting department works hard to grow and improve. They've always had an excellent CPA review program and recently added a Master's program to enhance opportunities. |
| Program Quality | 9 | ISU offers a great accounting program. No one offers grant accounting but I was well prepared with a solid background that made it easy to adapt. |
| Instruction | 9 | They offer a solid core program and a wide variety of electives. The instructors really cared about their students and made sure we were able to be successful. |
| How Difficult | 7 | The program wasn't a cake walk, but difficulty is a matter of personal ability so it's hard to answer this. I struggled with Audit but found Tax incredibly simple, but neither class was more challenging than the other - the difference was me and my ability. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Even in classes that were primarily book based, instructors looked for opportunities for hands-on learning. Software programs, case studies, and real world partnership exercises were all offered when possible. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 9 | Core classes were offered frequently enough to allow for flexibility. We had a range from college students only to college students with full time jobs and everything in between. Electives came around every few semesters so you didn't have to wait too long. |
| Academic Facilities | 9 | All COB classes were in one building, with two computer labs and 4 or 5 study rooms. The faculty, academic, and advisor offices were also in the same building. |
| Social Life | 5 | The school offered a lot for those who were able to participate. We had a large number of student parents so many of us didn't have much time to take advantage. |
| Placement Services | 5 | I didn't really utilize the job placement service since I moved across the country. When I went back to school, I knew what I wanted to study so I also did not need career services. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | They send newsletters and invite alumni to send in updates. I live too far away for the network to provide much support. |
