"I received a valuable 4 year degree that has served me well. I learned to think and adapt to a changing world."

| Would Recommend? | yes | The physical location provides a great place to learn. The overall curriculum creates diversity in studies. |
| Program Reputation | 7 | Some focus shift has occurred since I graduated. However, the programs are still consistently successful. |
| Program Quality | 9 | It was a smaller, private college that provided greater teacher to student ratios. The professors were top shelf. |
| Instruction | 9 | We had very focused classes with not too many students. The CPA preparation program had a very high success rate. |
| How Difficult | 9 | It has the same curriculum as "major" universities. Professors taught using real world experiences. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Top notch professors influence their teachings with real world experiences. Case study work was incorporated into the lessons. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 5 | At the time I attended there were no online or evening classes. I don't know if those are offered now or not since the college continues to be a predominantly dorm/residential setting. |
| Academic Facilities | 8 | Major new library and electronic expansion programs are in the works. We were one of the first to have terminals in every dorm room for accessing, working on, and submitting assignments. |
| Social Life | 8 | The overall atmosphere was conducive to learning and socialization. The smaller community made it easier to participate in a multitude of school and non-school related activities. |
| Placement Services | 5 | At the time I graduated there weren't very many opportunities available. Career days and outreach growth has probably improved. |
| Alumni Network | 7 | Periodic newsletters keep me up to date. Alumni get-together opportunities are offered annually. |

"Overall, I loved my school. My program was great and I learned a lot. School spirit and camaraderie were always at a high. There were always things for students to do. I would have given it a 10, but I do have concerns about the availability of academic advisors."

| Would Recommend? | Yes | Like I said previously, my school offers a 5 year program that results in a Masters of Professional Accountancy. Since most students going after an accounting degree want to eventually become a CPA, it makes sense to get this done with everything else. I also believe that the education the professors provided was top notch. Lastly, social situations never calm down. There are always things to do everywhere. |
| Program Reputation | 9 | My school offers two accounting programs. One is a 4 year program that results in a bachelors degree. It also offers a 5 year program that results in a Masters of Professional Accountancy. This allows students who know they are going to become CPAs the opportunity to get the extra schooling out of the way while also reducing the enrolled time by a year by integrating the bachelors and masters. Because of this 5 year program, people are attracted to my school. |
| Program Quality | 7 | In my major, there were various accounting classes that needed to be taken. Those included tax, audit, all levels of financial, managerial, and systems. I loved that we weren't always going over the same stuff in every class, but I wish there was a little more variety (i.e.: I'd have to take auditing, but they offered different auditing subject matters). |
| Instruction | 8 | A majority of my professors have had outside experience in the accounting world. This really helped me out because they could give us real-life examples. |
| How Difficult | 8 | In accounting, the professors expect you to go out on your own time and really learn the material. Often, things would be covered in class but not extensively. If we didn't understand what was happening in the class session, it was up to us to either figure it out ourselves or go to office hours. They expected a lot out of us and because of it, I learned a lot. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | There was a great mix at my school. We were definitely expected to purchase the book, read it, take notes on it, and do homework out of it. On the other side, the teacher would find ways to get us to think outside of the box with the different theories or principles. I believe that I had a nice mix of both hands-on and book learning. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 7 | When in the early stages of college, class flexibility and selection is fabulous. Many courses are offered online or in the summer. Regular semesters offer many different time slots and days to take classes. When you get into your last year or two, the flexibility greatly decreases. When I needed to take specific classes like Federal Tax Accounting, it was offered once on these days at this time. If that didn't work, too bad. |
| Academic Facilities | 9 | I would give my school a 10 in this, but the academic advisors are not always the greatest. The libraries are wonderful. There is a main one on both campuses plus 8-10 other specialized libraries (engineering, math, music, etc.). There are also resource centers available for students who are possibly struggling with certain subject matters (English, Chemistry, Calculus, etc.). |
| Social Life | 9 | Everyone had school spirit. Going to any sporting event always brought out the masses of red and white. Everyone was always ready to put on their gear and go yell and scream at a football game. There were also several university-wide events. Different organizations would bring in musical acts for the students to enjoy. They would also have random stuff like pancake feeds. |
| Placement Services | 7 | When I was searching for jobs, I consistently used my school's career services assistance. They have an extremely user-friendly website for current students and alum. It allows employers from anywhere to post jobs. This has helped me greatly since I moved away from the town. |
| Alumni Network | 9 | Although I have not yet really used the alumni network and support, I have heard great things about it. I am a registered member of my school's alumni association, but having just graduated a couple of months ago and only being an hour away, the need to use it just has not arisen. |

"I enjoyed my time at UNL. The education got me a good career."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | maybe | I have no other schools for comparison. But UNL is far from being a 'bad' option. |
| Program Reputation | 7 | I don't believe UNL is "on the map" in terms of accounting programs. But it isn't looked down upon, as far as I know. |
| Program Quality | 6 | I came out of the program with a general sense of accounting fundamentals. However, I was not confident in my ability to jump into an accounting career. |
| Instruction | 7 | My Intro to Accounting professor is the reason I took up accounting. There were a few other great ones, but most were pretty average. |
| How Difficult | 6 | I do not have any other accounting education programs to compare to. However, my wife took biochemistry and that program seemed MUCH more difficult. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | There was virtually no hands-on experience. I can only recall a few projects that got away from book regurgitation at all. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 9 | I took night and summer classes to lighten the load during the school year. I was also able to get Fridays off for the last couple semesters, which allowed me to travel. |
| Academic Facilities | 7 | There are very good academic advisors, but you often end up talking to an undergrad student with a few days of training. The building and facilities are fairly up to date. |
| Social Life | 5 | I worked too hard and didn't get out much. Football brings everyone together at UNL, though, and there is a strong sense of school spirit. |
| Placement Services | 9 | The professors pretty much tell everyone to get their CPA and work for a Big 4 firm. But the career services center is great for helping to find a job outside of this generic path. |
| Alumni Network | 10 | UNL has a very active alumni network. I utilized mine to help find my first job. |

| Would Recommend? | yes | UNO will teach you what you need to know to be successful. The professors are knowledgeable and want you to succeed! |
| Program Reputation | 10 | UNO has an excellent master's of accounting program. All of the graduates scored high on the entrance exams. |
| Program Quality | 10 | UNO did an excellent job of preparing me for the real world. They encouraged me to get an internship and take the CPA exam. |
| Instruction | 10 | My professors all worked as accountants before teaching, so they knew more than just what was in the books. I learned a lot during my education and continue to use the knowledge they provided me. |
| How Difficult | 9 | Accounting is not easy. It took hard work and determination to graduate. After working and going to school at night, I still had to spend multiple hours doing homework when I got home. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | There was a mixture of hands on and book learning. Nothing seems to stick out at me either way. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 5 | I had some flexibility with my undergraduate degree, but not much with my master's. Some classes were only offered once a week. |
| Academic Facilities | 10 | We had excellent computer labs. I was able to use the computer lab between classes and the computers were always top of the line. |
| Social Life | 10 | Being a part of Beta Alpha Psi was great for meeting new friends and colleagues. I met two of my best friends there. |
| Placement Services | 10 | UNO found me my first job. They stressed doing internships. |
| Alumni Network | 10 | I was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, which got me in contact with other students and CPA firms. I was able to get my first job this way. |

"I enjoyed going to school at the University. The atmosphere on campus was unreal, especially during football season. The one thing I did not appreciate was the ever-increasing tuition and fees."

| Would Recommend? | yes | The University is a great place to go to school. There are a lot of resources available on campus to make their students successful. |
| Program Reputation | I am not really sure what the reputation of the major is. The faculty are all very knowledgeable and have a genuine interest in the topics. | |
| Program Quality | 6 | The math program offered adequate classes to obtain a general understanding of mathematical processes. |
| Instruction | 7 | The professors I had were always willing to help if you needed more instruction on the topic. The textbooks that were required for the courses were adequate for the class. |
| How Difficult | 8 | The program was fairly difficult. I always had to study hard and work on practice problems to understand the content. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Most classes were based from a textbook required for the class. I believe that university classes should provide more application-type learning. It may be easy to ace a test, but applying it to a real-world situation is a lot different. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 6 | Class schedules were never a problem for me. The University offered morning, afternoon, night, and online classes. |
| Academic Facilities | 7 | My professors were always accessible during their office hours or via email. There are plenty of places to go to study and use the computers. |
| Social Life | Other than at the end of my college career, I did not have the time to join a club. If I wasn't in class I was working to pay tuition. | |
| Placement Services | 5 | The job placement and career services office certainly does have a presence on campus. However, once you graduate they send you on your way with no more assistance. |
| Alumni Network | 6 | I would have been interested in joining the alumni network, if it didn't cost money. In addition, it is rather annoying that they always solicit me to donate money. |
