"Great education and the degree carries a lot of weight. I was lucky to get in there."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesI would recommend it for everybody. Although it's a private LDS school, which can scare off some people.
Program Reputation9It's rated highly by Forbes and BW. It's very well known across the nation.
Program Quality8It's a great program at a top tier business school.
Instruction7Great, competitive program. All of the faculty are former industry professionals with great experience and knowledge.
How Difficult7The program is very intense. 64 credit hours in 4 semesters. There is no easy ride in any class.
Hands-On vs. BookishMost of the learning is case based. Also, as I have stated earlier, all of the instructors used to work in the industry.
Schedule Flexibility4During the first year there is no flexibility at all. But in the second year you get to work it around your schedule. However, there are no weekend, evening, or on-line options.
Academic Facilities8Very good. All that you can think of is there, and much more.
Social Life7There are many great traditions at the school. However, as a grad student you are not involved in the school life as much.
Placement Services6The career center is working hard, but could do a little better. Also, the economy is in the wrong state to make a fair judgment.
Alumni Network7There is an established network with the local groups. I have received a lot of support from a couple of them.

"BYU was fine. I got out of it what I put into it."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesBYU is a place where you can focus on your studies without a lot of distractions. If you want a clean, sober school which is all about learning only, it would be a good place to go.
Program Reputation10They rate among the best for business. This is true for all of the university rating magazine articles.
Program Quality7BYU is a fine school for Economics. The teachers are great and the subject matter they discuss is very well presented.
Instruction4BYU professors are a-ok. If I had gone to graduate school, I would have been well prepared for it.
How Difficult10Economics is demanding. The workload was not unbearable, though.
Hands-On vs. BookishMy program was a book-learning program. Lagrangian multipliers do not have much hands-on that you could do.
Schedule Flexibility9I was able to take my classes whenever I wanted. There were only a few occasions that a class did not have many possible sections to choose from.
Academic Facilities10The facilities are world-class. BYU is very well equipped.
Social Life7I didn't participate much. I worked instead.
Placement Services2Job placement is almost non-existent. They were no help whatsoever.
Alumni Network2Job placement is almost non-existent. The alumni network is just a website listing a few jobs but asking for lots of donations.

Studying Accounting (completion in 2010)

"The class sizes were small and I got a lot of attention from professors. Also I had a lot of great experience and gained a lot of knowledge that has helped me with my current career."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

Would Recommend?yesI recommend this school all the time. The experience is invaluable. It is also reasonably priced and I got a quality education.
Program Reputation8From what I know, people respect the program. It is not the top program in the state but I would say it is probably considered to be in the running for second place.
Program Quality9This school gives a lot of attention to the business department and has worked hard to gain sponsorship from outside accounting firms, which also allowed for hands on learning experiences. A lot of focus is on getting you the information you need and getting you through the program quickly, which I was very satisfied with.
Instruction10The instruction was very hands on with the majority through local businesses. Also many of the professors have very practical experience, which has helped me in my career.
How Difficult5The program was difficult enough that it required studying an average of four hours per day, but not too difficult. With hard work I was able to pass all classes and I would consider myself only a slightly above average student.
Hands-On vs. BookishThe program was very hands on. I worked in many local businesses to create solutions for them. I also held multiple internships as part of my curriculum.
Schedule Flexibility3Because the school was relatively small (good for some reasons), there was generally only one or two options for certain courses each semester. They did offer whole programs such as the MBA in the evening to be available for professionals.
Academic Facilities8The facilities were adequate for the needs of the program. Professors and advisers were always available for help.
Social Life5Student activities were not well-attended. School spirit at athletic events however was evident.
Placement Services10The classmates I keep in touch with were all employed within a month of graduation. I believe the program boasts a 98% career placement.
Alumni Network1Since my graduation I have only received a notification for one alumni event. I do not know anything about the alumni association/network.

"BYU offers a great reputation for a reasonable tuition. The ability to work full time while going to school makes it possible to afford to go back to school during your career."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesBYU offers a great reputation for a reasonable tuition. The ability to work full time while going to school makes it possible to afford to go back to school during your career.
Program Reputation8The BYU MBA program is nationally ranked. The MPA program is ranked in the top 5 in the nation. Having an MBA from BYU is worth more in the work place because of the good reputation.
Program Quality9BYU has a well established Business Administration program. They are nationally recognized for their MBA program and MPA program. The professors are tops in their field and have excellent professional experience.
Instruction9The professors are among the best in their fields. They have professional experience and are great teachers.
How Difficult8The program was an evening program designed for working adults. The students have experience in the business field. The program was catered to student needs, knowing we were working full time and going to school full time.
Hands-On vs. BookishThere were several projects in the course of the program, but most of the learning was book learning in a classroom setting with professors lecturing.
Schedule Flexibility10The program schedule is designed specifically with night and weekend classes and projects. This enables students to work full time during school.
Academic FacilitiesI provided my own computer and setup. I did not use these items.
Social Life8School spirit is good. But as a grad student and working full time, we did not really get into the activities. There is no time.
Placement ServicesI did not use their career services.
Alumni Network8There are multiple networking choices for alumni. They keep an updated data base of alumni. They have conferences and speakers for alumni so we can get together and network.
