Would Recommend?noSmith is expensive. I didn't set out to be an administrative assistant. There are less expensive schools to consider.
Program Reputation8I had some amazing professors and learned quite a bit. The reputation of the department was good, but not among the top schools at the time.
Program Quality10I loved Smith. It was an amazing experience.
Instruction9I love history and the professors were excellent, but my degree has no bearing on what I do now.
How Difficult9I had a tendency to glide and wait to do research.
Hands-On vs. BookishThe primary focus tended to be on book learning. The classroom sizes were always very small, and the professors handled the classes rather than using teaching assistants.
Schedule Flexibility8They provided a number of classes during the week. The winter break had a nice selection of ungraded electives.
Academic Facilities8The Smith College library was a joy to be in. They had a good collection of historical research materials. Obviously, the collection on New England and Massachusetts was very extensive.
Social Life10The student body was diverse and interesting. There was always a wide variety of social activities to select from the Five Colleges.
Placement Services3When I graduated, there were very few job listings in the career center. Most listings tended to be in fields I wasn't interested in.
Alumni Network5When I graduated, everything was analog. There's not really a support system in place. The current system is geared towards recent graduates.
