CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesAbsolutely! For software engineering and other areas, our department is very strong.
Program Reputation7Since UNL joined the Big-10, we have more academic resources. I think our reputation is improving.
Program Quality7The school has a strong software engineering program, in which I took part. Other research areas, like embedded systems and robotics, are also strong.
Instruction7I experience a range of instruction in terms of quality. Mostly, it was above average.
How Difficult8Getting a PhD anywhere is a challenge. I have a large workload because I want to get a research position for my ultimate career.
Hands-On vs. BookishThere's a little of both. The humanities classes were less hands-on, while the engineering classes were less book-driven.
Schedule Flexibility5We have mostly traditional students. The schedule does not have a lot of evening or summer offerings.
Academic Facilities9The resources are very good. For athletes especially, the school enforces high standards, hires tutors, has mandatory study hours, and so forth.
Social Life8The friends I met in school are my best friends. We're all still in touch.
Placement ServicesI have not taken advantage of the services. I do not know much about their quality.
Alumni Network8People still come back and visit the department. They are good about reaching out to graduates.
