Would Recommend?yesI can only say good things about my time there. Anyone looking for a career in this industry will get my vote to go to a real college and experience the real campus life vs. a technical school.
Program Reputation10Ferris State is a top-10 school for automotive education. I believe that was what helped me gain access to some high-paying jobs.
Program Quality10I was given the skills and confidence to start a career in the automotive industry. Without Ferris, I am not sure where I would be.
Instruction10The instructors were very easy to talk to, which allowed me to lower my guard and be mentored. I went in with a know-it-all attitude and they quickly changed my outlook.
How Difficult1I grew up around cars and they just reinforced my ideas.
Hands-On vs. BookishA perfect blend of book and hands on. There is no way you can learn everything from a book. Automotive is a hands-on career.
Schedule Flexibility10Typical college life with multiple classes available at all hours and on the weekends. I never had problems filling my schedule and it worked around my availability.
Academic Facilities10Ferris had a great library and class space. The advisers were helpful and gathered the group weekly for support meetings.
Social Life10School spirit was great, considering it's a hockey town. Lots of social events and parties throughout my time there.
Placement Services10I didn't waste time after getting my degree. Job placement was really easy and Ferris was a big part of that.
Alumni Network5My network is great, but I don't use it often.
