Would Recommend?yesAMU is a great option for military members. I would advise anyone seeking a degree while working full time to attend AMU.
Program Reputation5AMU is a little known school geared towards active duty military members. I have never heard anything bad about the business program, but I have also never heard anything particularly good.
Program Quality8AMU provided a feeling of community and teamwork despite being an online college. I would have rated the school a perfect 10 were it not for a small minority of professors who had trouble returning work in a timely manner.
Instruction8The business courses that I took were well taught and thorough. A few of the liberal arts courses were less than stellar, but for the most part the classes were informative and enabled me to accomplish my learning objectives.
How Difficult5The coursework I took was challenging but not overwhelming. I felt a sense of accomplishment after finishing each course.
Hands-On vs. BookishAll courses were online so all learning occurred via computer/textbook. I don't believe that business is a very hands-on degree program regardless of where you study.
Schedule Flexibility10AMU offers classes online and students can fit an education into any schedule. I completed my degree while serving as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps.
Academic Facilities7The school had no physical facilities but it had an extensive amount of online resources. I never felt at a loss for education aides.
Social Life1Given that AMU is an online school, I never actually met anybody in person. Each course had mandatory discussion boards and one was able to work and converse with other students, but that was limited to classwork.
Placement Services7The school provides good placement services. I have not had an opportunity to take advantage of them, but they seem to be thorough.
Alumni Network8AMU provides a program that allows students to be mentored by alumni. I am currently participating as a mentor and I feel that this is a great way for students to build connections while they study. The school also puts great effort into job placement.
