"It was a great school. I learned a lot while attending here. As I've said before I really liked the hands on training aspect that many schools do not have enough of."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | I have and would recommend my school to others. I believe they have a great program. |
| Program Reputation | 8 | The school is probably not well known nationally, but around here they are reputable. People know when they hire graduates that they are receiving quality talent. |
| Program Quality | 10 | I believe my school had a very good program. There was a lot of hands on training. Many people read books and get certificates but when it comes to doing something they don't know how because all they've ever done is read about it. |
| Instruction | 10 | The people teaching are or were professionals in the field. They were able to share real life examples and experiences which helped prepare us for real life experiences. As many people know or soon find out, textbook examples are rarely what happens in the real world. |
| How Difficult | 8 | Some classes came easier than others but I think it wasn't too bad. I also enjoyed the subject matter, which helped me learn. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | The program was very hands on. There was some time set aside for book learning, but the majority of that was done on your own time. I believe this is a better way of doing things. If I'm going to mess something up I would rather it be in a learning environment than at the work place. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 9 | The school was very flexible with schedules. They have both day and night classes. They also have quarterly options year round. They allow time on Saturdays to work on projects or have one-on-one time with your teacher. |
| Academic Facilities | 9 | They had all the resources we needed to learn. The professors were always available to call or email. It was very personable. The library also had a good supply of technical books for you to use for study. |
| Social Life | 4 | The school was small and as a result not much went on socially. There were no sports. Occasionally there would be a cookout or ice cream social or something small like that. |
| Placement Services | I cannot say that it is good or bad, I have never used these services. | |
| Alumni Network | 4 | There is not much communication with the alumni. I have heard from them twice since graduation. They do offer a career placement program. I'm not sure how well they do at this as I have never had to use it. |

"For being in debt to go to college, I 100% fully regret going to Northern Kentucky University. It was such a disappointment."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | no | I'd recommend to anyone else to save up and go to a different school. Get loans. Talk to family members. Do whatever you can to go to the best school possible. |
| Program Reputation | 1 | There really isn't much reputation with any major available at NKU. People just go there because there aren't any other budget options in the tri-state area. |
| Program Quality | 5 | NKU was a community college a few years ago; now, it's slowly getting into the NCAA program. Right now, they just don't have the greatest teachers for the classes offered. I want real people who have done this experience in the field. |
| Instruction | 4 | The professors teaching the classes don't have real-world experience. If they haven't done all of this in the real world, how can they teach it to others? |
| How Difficult | 3 | With it once being a community college, the standards are rather low. It doesn't take much to get an A in every class. It's really simple/easy. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | Between PowerPoints and books, we never really did any hands-on work. I'm assuming that was their way of saving money. It really didn't help any students, though. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 10 | They offer classes at all hours of every day of the week. I'd say that was the only real plus with going to Northern Kentucky University. |
| Academic Facilities | 10 | They're spending millions upon millions to make new buildings and programs. While there isn't much to the school now, there will be a whole lot more in the future. |
| Social Life | 10 | Because of it being somewhat small, I was able to get to know everyone in my major--everybody knew everyone. The small classes added a new level of social interaction and really helped a lot. |
| Placement Services | 1 | They just give you your degree and tell you good luck. You have to do it all yourself--they don't provide any assistance at all. |
| Alumni Network | 1 | At NKU, they give you a degree and push you out the door. There's no other networking or support involved. It feels like they just want your money. |
