"I do not approve of everything the school spends their money on and believe it would be better spent on equipment and new labs. I do believe that the IT teachers are some of the best around."

Would Recommend?maybeDepending on what the student wanted to achieve I would recommend Hinds or another school. If the student valued a good setting with good teachers, Hinds. If the student valued new buildings and labs, another school would be best.
Program Reputation6The school is not very well known for their courses. Their teachers are excellent though.
Program Quality5Cisco based CCNA classes were required to complete the degree. The school could have done more when it came to providing equipment and up to date labs.
Instruction9The teacher was excellent and wanted to see all students succeed. He went above and beyond to ensure that we had what we needed.
How Difficult8CCNA preparation is extremely difficult. The lab simulations were not as bad as the actually book prep for the certification.
Hands-On vs. BookishThe curriculum was very hands-on when setting up networks in the lab. The current curriculum is slightly less hands-on depending on the teacher.
Schedule Flexibility5Summer offers can be rather slim when picking classes. The school offers many online and evening classes though.
Academic Facilities5Computer centers for research are offered, their is a well stocked library. The computer labs need upgrading and to be redone and reorganized.
Social Life6School spirit is decent with many sports and students attending. The school tries to do extra things such as cook outs to help students socialize. The current enrollment does not seem interested though.
Placement Services7The school does not offer job placement. The teachers keep their eyes open for any open jobs in the area and let students know.
Alumni Network1The school provides no alumni network. There is no further alumni support provided.

Would Recommend?yesIt's a great way to start a life. It instills confidence and provides direction.
Program Reputation10People know that the USAF is on the cutting edge of technology and they appreciate having someone with that level of knowledge.
Program Quality5It was Air Force basic level training. I have learned more on the job and through self study.
Instruction5They prepared me to learn via OTJ mentorship, but did not actually provide relevant and useful information.
How Difficult1Everything they taught to the students was something that anyone could have picked up in a semester of computer science at a community college. Information was way below the level of almost every student in the class.
Hands-On vs. BookishAll real learning was done via OTJ One-on-One mentoring.
Schedule Flexibility1Rigidity and structure are the backbone of a military.
Placement ServicesThey trained me for a job, then gave me that job. It was all OTJ training.
Alumni NetworkIt's the Air Force. This does not apply, because it's more than a traditional school.

"Having little or no background, my school prepared me very well under the circumstances. I had never even seen a computer until I went there. I have continued to excel in the field in numerous areas and I have never looked back."

Would Recommend?yesI would certainly recommend it. I have many times but people seem to fear this field while I embrace it. I hope to someday start my own scholarship specifically for this school and this field.
Program Reputation10For this region of the country, JCJC is stellar for this field. I have recommended this program for many throughout my career who live in this area.
Program Quality10My school has a history for preparing students for this career path and my teacher cared and encouraged us to do well in order to remain competitive in the field.
Instruction9The school provided what was necessary at the time, however, the field out grew the preparation. There is always something you are not quite prepared for or it was missed.
How Difficult10Computer Science requires solid math skills to build upon. Programming was a challenge without any exposure to binary concepts.
Hands-On vs. BookishMy program required a lot of lab time due to programming assignments and projects. Book time was also mandatory to keep abreast of what was being taught.
Schedule Flexibility10Class scheduling was flexible for whatever your needs were. Once I needed to take just one class as I continued to work full time in the industry.
Academic Facilities10All my academic resources were available. It is now my understanding that these resources are more up-to-date and are readily available to students.
Social Life5My social experiences were a bit mild, perhaps. I understood then that this field was competitive and I wanted to be good at it. I spent my free time in the game room and participated in intramural sports. I also attended campus activities when there was time.
Placement Services10I was placed in my first job six months prior to graduation. My school continues this partnership with job placements to date.
Alumni Network1The alumni do not reach out to graduates, or at least not to me. I guess if I just pay $100 to join I'll have some contact or communication.
