Would Recommend?yesEngineering is fundamentally is about analysis, synthesis, and constraint optimization. You'll get a good introduction to the basics.
Program Reputation7People I meet seem to be impressed with the quality of engineers. It's above average, but not Stanford.
Program Quality8The mathematics and engineering classes were fairly rigorous. However, it wasn't MIT.
Instruction7Like any school, some outstanding professors were inspiring and challenging. Most were just there to present material.
How Difficult6At the time I was being challenged by around 25% of the classes. In retrospect, I should have had to work harder.
Hands-On vs. BookishWe had both theory classes and labs. We designed and built filters from components and wrote assembly as well as learning the theory.
Schedule Flexibility5I don't have a basis for comparison. Freshman classes were often early. More senior classes seemed to be convenient.
Academic Facilities9With an on-site VLSI Fab, nuclear reactor, and a great library network, the technical resources were both broad and deep. Looking down at the blue glow of Cherenkov radiation in a live reactor is pretty neat.
Social Life5I made some good friends. I knew many people going to the school.
Placement Services3Being a serial entrepreneur, I did not avail myself of their career placement services. I don't know anyone who received a job that way.
Alumni Network3I'm not a member of the alumni club. While I have keep in touch with friends from college, I'm not aware of any support.
