Student/Alumnus Reviews of Schools for This Career and State

George Fox University • Newberg, OR
Studying Management And Organizational Leadership (completion in 2009)

8/1/2011

"I really enjoyed my time at George Fox. I continue to review my coursebooks and interact with fellow students."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?maybeManagement and Organizational Leadership is primarily a course for future C level students. Although there is value to be had for any level of manager, much of the curriculum was designed for those in the C suite.
Program Reputation7Newsweek and Forbes rates George Fox highly. I suppose that allows them to charge more.
Program Quality8George Fox is a school based on strong morals. They engage students to embrace these morals.
Instruction6Although taught that integrity is of utmost importance, the curriculum frequently failed to identify that cultural influence dictated that integrity. What we call corrupt in the US is often simply business in other countries.
How Difficult7I had attended several community colleges on my way to attending George Fox. I felt that the work load was heavier and expected to be performed at a higher level.
Hands-On vs. BookishThe program was a professional program and had the expectation that students would immediately apply the learned information. However, many students did not have the ability to apply the learned information to their current positions.
Schedule Flexibility10George Fox provides extremely flexible scheduling for returning professionals. I participated in a cohort program that allowed me to come to campus only once a week.
Academic Facilities9George Fox's Portland campus provided all the resources I needed to complete my coursework. Their library was more than adequate.
Social Life3I attended an annex campus. Perhaps had I attended in Newberg my experience would have been different.
Placement Services3Virtually non-existent. I paid $25 to participate in some resume program and once paid was allowed to complete a form similar to Monster... No calls from potential employers.
Alumni Network3I've joined. I seldom if ever hear from them.
