"I loved my college experience. I am very proud of the fact that I graduated from a highly reputable university. I feel that the education I received was much better than either of my siblings who also went to state schools."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

Would Recommend?yesI would highly recommend Rutgers University to anyone looking for a good education. I feel they have more to offer than smaller schools, while also having some of the best professors in the country.
Program Reputation7I cannot say that RU is known for it's Econ program. But most majors are held in high esteem. The majors with the highest reputations have individual schools (Business School, Engineering school Pharmacy school, College of Dentistry and Medicine, etc.)
Program Quality8Rutgers University is a highly reputable school that is almost as old as the Ivy League schools in the northeast. I feel they provided me with not only a solid education, but they also allowed me to meet so many different people from different cultures and backgrounds. It's a melting pot of all races. Additionally, there was a wide selection of majors.
Instruction10Many of my professors had their doctorates. The masters program I was involved in was upping their credentials (CACREP accreditation I believe) which is something that RU prides itself in. I also had a professor that was also a professor at Princeton University. They want only the best. I felt completely prepared to go out into the world and work. The amount that I learned was incredible and it was NOT easy! It was a pretty hard school with very high standards.
How Difficult9I felt that the standards that RU students are held to are extremely high. While I do not feel that Economics was the most difficult major at RU, several of my classes were based on calculus. While I have no other education to compare this to, going into Econ, I would not have originally thought that calculus was going to play such a major part in my major, as I do not like calculus at all!
Hands-On vs. BookishI leaned towards 'Very Book' oriented because there really wasn't much hands on work one could do for my major (Economics) Math was math, and there was no way around that. I did have classes in which I used real time statistics and data, but that isn't necessarily hands on either. If I was a science major, there would have been a lot more hands on lab work.
Schedule Flexibility10RU, due to the amount of students, has a very flexible class schedule. We also have 3 campuses in New Brunswick and students are bussed between campuses so that everyone can attend classes on all the other campuses, and this allows for students to fit classes into their schedules. Night and weekend classes are also very common. If a student would prefer to work during the day and go to night and weekend classes, they can apply to a specific school that gives them priority registration for night and weekend classes.
Academic Facilities10Due to the size and reputation, RU has every possible resource available. The facilities, while not always the newest, are constantly updated with the most recent technology for learning. There are many computer labs, but also many dorms allow for a direct connection to the university network.
Social Life10Rutgers had any club a person could want. Football and Basketball were major athletic events on campus. If you wanted a party, there was frat row... there was always a party going on! Religious events? We had them also.
Placement Services8I did not use these services, but know for a fact they exist. I feel that with the school's reputation, the job placement must be decent, and therefore I gave it a rating of 8.
Alumni Network10While I am not active in any of the alumni events, I am constantly receiving emails or mailings regarding some sort of alumni event. There are always things going on...the school has over 50,000 students, which makes for a ton of alumni. They are also one of the oldest universities in the US.
