"I liked being able to go to a community college that was local in order to obtain my bachelor's. I really didn't want to attend a university where I would be stuck in a dorm."
Ratings are on a 1-10 scale
| Characteristic | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Would Recommend? | yes | I think that where I live, there are a few options for school. SUNY Albany (which makes me think of law programs), HVCC (which is typically just like high school) and SCCC. SCCC was great because it had the program interaction with SUNY Delhi so you were getting the best of both worlds. |
| Program Reputation | 8 | I think this is one of their strongest fields. |
| Program Quality | 9 | This was an interesting program because it was a companion program between SUNY Delhi and Schenectady County Community College so that you could attend classes at SCCC but still obtain a bachelor's. |
| Instruction | 9 | There wasn't A LOT of relevancy to the field I'm in. The courses were more about business models than learning the actual framework of a database. |
| How Difficult | 6 | Classes were not that difficult. I think that the workload was about average and because the classes were more about business, they weren't that difficult for me. |
| Hands-On vs. Bookish | There were quite a few assignments out of books, but in the technology courses we were allowed to actually experience real hands-on learning. | |
| Schedule Flexibility | 7 | It took me a little longer to complete school because I was working full time and they didn't offer that many night courses. |
| Academic Facilities | 5 | The only thing we really had available was a library. Other than that, it was kind of a "figure things out on your own" school. |
| Social Life | 4 | I went to school, did my work, and came home or went to work. There wasn't a lot of interaction. |
| Placement Services | 1 | The school I attended had nothing to do with where I got hired. A friend of a friend (networking) was the key to that. |
| Alumni Network | 5 | I get a lot of emails from the alumni, but other than that there isn't an effort to get together or do anything special. |
